Journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling Rescued By Clinton

What appeared to be yet another controversy regarding endangered journalists, was sorted out when Bill Clinton accompanied U.S. Journalists Euna Lee 36 and Laura Ling 32 rescuing them from an uninterrupted detention in Pyongyang, where they were being held captive for four months. They feared they would have been taken to a labor camp.
Clinton spent 20 hours in North Korea, and met the leader Kim Jhong-il and concluded with a release and pardon order from the leader after he met over a meal. The journalists got arrested in March while reporting on North Korean refugees and were convicted to serve a term of 12 years in accordance to country legislation.
Clad in jeans and green and pink tops each of the two saw Clinton heading a “supercool team” and landed early morning in California, on Burbank. Al Gore was present at the airport welcoming the journalists who worked in his firm.
On seeing President Clinton Ling said, “We were shocked, but we knew instantly in our hearts that the nightmare of our lives was finally coming to an end.” Ling and Lee worked for Current T.V. and were accused of having intruded into country premises illegally from China.
President Obama announced as having been “extraordinarily relieved” on behalf of the U.S. government and even though Clinton made no comments to reporters he later expressed in writing that he was comforted that the ordeal got a clean ending and appreciated the trust and patience of the families of the journalists.
Clinton visited North Korea as a private citizen and this was yet another success he had at a “humanitarian mission”.
