Sao Paulo, Feb 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 55-year-old Brazilian who was convicted of fathering seven children with his daughter has been killed in a prison riot.

José Agostinho Pereira who was popularly known as the “Brazilian Joseph Fritzl” was amongst six inmates that were found dead after the riot. Brazilian newspapers report that the riot was sparked by inmate rebellion that erupted at the prison facility on Monday.

Pereira made international headlines in 2010 when he was convicted of abusing his own daughter and fathering seven children with her. He was sentenced to 63 years in prison for the crime. His case had curious similarities with that of Austrian man, Joseph Fritzl who was in 2009 also sentenced to life in prison for fathering seven children with his daughter.

Prison officials explained that the riots broke out in the prison which is located in the city of Maranhao in Sao Luiz. The authorities say four of the dead prisoners were decapitated while the other two hanged their heads against the prison gates.

The prisoners were demanding that the prison authorities should allow them to have homemade foods from relatives and also give them marijuana.

The authorities managed to restore order to the facility later.
