Jonathan Trappe London, May 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jonathan Trappe created history when he crossed the English Channel with the aid of helium balloons. The 36-year-old adventure freak belongs to Raleigh, North Carolina and he took 5 hours to cross the English Channel. He had a special chair made for himself, that was affixed to the bunch of helium balloons. He started his ‘balloon voyage’ from Kent and crossed the English Channel and reached France. He was able to descend on the ground, when he cut off some of the balloons away, so that gravity could do its job and he could land.

Trappe had fun during the 5-hour flight and he described it as a peaceful experience. The Sky News television was responsible for covering the whole event and later in an interview he said that, “It was just an exceptional, quiet, peaceful experience.” Some people thought that he was taking a very big risk in this case, and so when he was asked about the motivation behind this journey then he said that, “Didn’t you have this dream, grabbing on to a bunch of toy balloons and floating off? I think it’s something that’s shared across cultures and across borders — just this wonderful fantasy of grabbing on to toy balloons and floating into open space.”
