July 10th, 2009 - 10:10 pm ICT by GD ( 20 comments )
In an unfortunate incident, Jonas Silverio who is an ex principal has been arrested after it has been charged against him that he has molested three students. 40 year old Jonas Silverio has been arrested on Wednesday afternoon by the Sheriff detectives at LAX. They have tracked him down from Philippines where he had supposedly fled in the month of May. It has been reported that he was unaware of the arrest warrant that has been issued on his name.
Dan Scott, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Sgt has been reported saying that two members of the girls’ volleyball team of the Lynwood’s Firebaugh High School has been said to have been molested by him. Besides this charges, he has been charged with committing 17 counts of lewd acts on a child for which he has being held on a bail of $1 million.
He was the principal of the Lynwood high school and resigned from his post after the molestation charges were drawn against him. He was also the coach of the school volley ball team. These incidents have not been a recent occurrence as the incidents reportedly have taken place in 2001 and 2005. The investigating officers indicate that the incident may even date back to 1996 and says that the molestation allegations are till under investigation.
It has been reported by Dan Scott that Silverio had left the U.S. on May 18 and he has been arrested at around 3.30pm. The FBI who has also been involved in this molestation case, flagged the passport and agents of the ex principal as soon as he bought a ticket for Los Angeles.

It says that he was the principal of Lynwood High School, which is untrue. He was the principal of Firebaugh High School. As an alumni of Lynwood High School I don’t want it to have a bad name.

he was the principal of firebaugh high school in lynwood california. not the principal of lynwood high. please correct this.

Silverior is a bitch. By his look and his relationship with students (girls), you will know that he has been messing up with the students. I suggest that the sheriff should extend it’s investigation to Silverior relation with students when he was AP at lynwood middle school.

After this episode, the scool superintendent -Dr. Dhyan Lal- and board members like Jose Luis Solache should be investigated and charged too for covering it up. This episode is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the rampant corruption at Lynwood USD.

I agree with what Sonny says, there are so many things that the district has covered up. A lot of people know about it and have covered it up. Most of the board members are very corrupt. Especially Dr. Dhyan Lal, everyone knows that he spends all the cities money.

Many of you fail to see past these two alleged victims (and possibly others). There are other victims besides the ones coming forward to speak out. These incidents are afecting his family members as well…not only the alleged victims. My prayers go to Silverio’s family. They are in for a LONG haul. We make decisions realizing or not that there will be consequences that will come back to haunt us. What we fail to realize is that it also affects our loved ones. Life is like a domino effect…we are not the only ones who fall. All of us are affected one way or another. I know I am as a past victim of my ex-husband’s decision. I feel Mrs. Silverio pain, worry, and disappointment. She needs our prayers to survive this hardship.

As a Lynwood community member, I stand for the silent victims of this and other similar crimes being committed all around us on a daily basis. Pray that the ofenders listen to their conscience (if they stil have one) and stop abusing innocent children. Pray for Heavenly justice not Human justice.

To lala this didn’t happen 2-3 years ago, its been happening for more than 2-3 years and continuing, if all that school did was to teach you some common sense, they should have maybe taught you some grammar too.

I love what anonymous #9 said.

My Dearest Lala, principals lead and make decisions for others in the schools. The teachers and students are the ones who have worked hard and made the accomplishments at Firebaugh come true. He just takes the credit. Be proud of being part of those accomplishments. However, Silverio has a long history of dipping into this type of crime over a decade ago, not just 2-3yrs. “Silverio has been employed at various schools in the Los Angeles area, and detectives are investigating allegations dating back to 1996.” “The Los Angeles Wave reports that a search of criminal records turned up a 1995 conviction against Silverio in Glendale Superior Court for one count of lewd acts on a child.” Bad, bad teacher… Lala, You should thank those girls who were dumb enough to fall for a lying, cheating, married man, but who were brave enough to report the crime. Now, hopefully, he won’t be able to committ anymore harm. The vicitms and his family are all damaged for life. By the way…teenagers aren’t known to have common sense. It’s experience gained over the years that give you that common sense. Learn from your mistakes and those of others.

Sunshine…don’t know if you are aware, but many men think with their penis instead of their real head (you know the one with the brain). Predators like him– and others who apparently exist in every family (near or distant)–use mind games and trickery to involve their victims into their web. They are like wolves in sheep’s wool. With that being said, girls don’t always know better. We all make mistakes Sunshine. It happens to all of us once or twice in our life time. We guide ourselves with our hearts instead of with our minds. Besides, our justice system is getting better. Back before the 80’s this wouldn’t be a big deal. It was hushed and thrown under the mat. Megan’s Law is recent. Many victims would have loved justice served in their time.

This Silverio thing was truly unexpected. Then again, most of us must have been blinded by bribes (certain members of the PTA). Others are simply in a weird way, thankful for the IB program, which he did start at our school. I am however, truly disgusted. I had tried out for the volleyball team and thank god I decided to quit.Voice of the other Victims, you are right, men do think with their penises. During practices, he always kept a watchful eye on the whole team… What a coincidence, volleyball uniforms consist of super small tight shorts… He gave us two things, IB and lots of disgust.

#14–small tight volleyball shorts don’t make a perv see better, they can undress you with their eyes even if you are wearing an Eskimo outfit. We have been wearing small tight shorts for many years during the 80’s and 90’s while Coach Buggs was around. Unfortunately, Buggs would have been your coach when you attended, but some principal ran many GREAT coaches lilke him off to other campuses. Buggs is now at LB Poly training athletes (diamonds) in the rough (boys and girls) go to great colleges.
The most important thing that Silverio gave all of us is a lesson of life…Suspect everyone and trust no one. Trust is gained by earning it not because one applies for the position.

There is no need for any correction. no where does it state that he was the principle of “Lynwood High School”. Theres a difference between saying “the Lynwood high school” and “Lynwood High School.”
They are referring to a high school in the city of Lynwood, not necessarily LHS. People please learn some simple english.

My 6th grade volleyball coach, a man by the name Jonas Silverio molested me…Although it has been 21 yrs since the incidents began, i still remember almost all the details. If this is the same guy, he’s been doing this since the late 80’s! And i can bet my life, some of my other teammates experienced the same.

To “Wow” #16: When a crime of that nature is committed it becomes ALL of OUR BUSINESS! Unfortunately, his actions in our community affected everyone attending Firebaugh High, their parents, siblings, and other colleagues alike. It’s shameful to harbor any type of fools practicing actions of that nature in our school district and neighborhood specially from someone whom we trusted in such a high position for many years.
For #16: I am so, so, so sorry that you lived that disgusting experience. I don’t doubt that it was the same suspect in this case. Unfortunately for all of these present victims as well as his wife, you and your teammates could have avoided so many other victims to go through what you did if you would have reported this back in the 80’s. I am NOT blaming you, but you could have helped “nip it in the bud” and he could have been convicted then and never been allowed to work with young potential victims EVER. Well, I thank you for coming forward and letting us know that his crime goes back 3 decades; although your testimony now would have added more to his conviction of 8 years of prison.

Correction for the second paragraph…
It is intended for #18 “Most Likely one of the 1st victims”
