Connecticut, Oct 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to the Connecticut police,John William Lomax III, 21, has been arrested and subsequently charged with a conspiracy to commit assault and the murder of Jasper Howard, who was fatally stabbed at a University dance on October 18th.
However Lomax’s defense attorney is pleading that his client is innocent and he was just being a good Samaritan and was trying to break up a fight that led to the stabbing of Howard, whereas the police have charged him with Howard’s murder. Lomax is being held on a whooping $2 million bond.
“Lomax wasn’t present when the argument started and doesn’t know what it was about, but tried to break up the fight and didn’t stab anyone”, said his attorney, Deron Freeman.
“He was just partying,” Freeman said. “Often people from out of town go to the UConn campus to party.”
Police have also charged 20-year-old Hakim Muhammad with conspiracy to commit assault, and 21-year-old Jamal Todd, who sparked the initial fight by pulling the school fire alarm.Along with Lomax, Hakim Muhammad has been charged with conspiracy of murder and Jamal Todd has been charged with reckless misbehavior and false reporting of an incident. Todd had allegedly pulled the fire alarm that triggered the fight. The police have not yet been able to build up any conclusive case, but they are investigating with over forty investigators.
