jfkNew York, March 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) As was declared before by the JFK Airport authority, the airport shut a part of its runways for four months starting from this Monday. According to reports, only three runways will be open for the next four months. Passenger had to face a lot of trouble owing to this closure as the weather on Monday allowed only one runway to operate out of the remaining three. At average, flights were delayed by two hours on Monday. However, the Federal Aviation Administration has reportedly said that the flight delays were not caused due to the repair works going on but rather due to the unruly weather and air velocity.

The JFK Airport which is considered one of the busiest Airports all over America is allegedly famous for its flight delays. The Airport authority has undertaken the reportedly $376 million repair project to combat these flight delays. Repair works will be done on the runways, the asphalt surface will be reportedly replaced by concretes. According to reports, new taxiways will be also constructed.

To decrease the rush at the Airport during these four months, two popular Airlines “Delta Air Lines” and “Jet Blue” have reduced their take off flights by 10 percent reportedly. This will help to reduce the flight delays as the above mentioned are the largest passenger carrier flights. It is being anticipated by many that this repair work of four months will only add to the woes of passengers who use this airport for departure. The “Port Authority Of New York and New Jersey” however has proclaimed that the impact of the repair work will not be felt by the passengers.
