jld Oct 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The National Enquirer published a business card belonging to Phillip Garrido, Jaycee Lee Dugard’s abductor, with a photo on it as that of Jaycee Lee Dugard. Her family released a public statement that the photo wasn’t Dugard’s at all. What makes the matter even more serious is that the photo was allegedly published without notifying Dugard herself, which comes across as more insensitive, given that she is at the moment under FBI protection.

Dugard was abducted from a school bus stop on June 10,1991when she was 11. She has been missing for 18 years years since. On 26 August, 2009, she appeared before Garrido’s parole officer and was identified the next day. The abduction was witnessed by Dugard’s stepfather from a distance along with some of her classmates. Though they chased the car, they weren’t able to catch up with it. There was once an attempt by the police following a 911 call, but they let it go after an inspection. Ever since, there had been no news of Dugard until she turned up and narrated that Garrido had literally imprisoned her in a box and fathered two children by her, Starlet and Angel.

Dugard’s family is quite emphatic in their statement that the photo nowhere resembles her. She had not made any public appearance since her reappearance. The National Enquirer claimed that the photo was supplied by Wayne Thompson, a barber and acquaintance of Garrido. However, there are controversies raging as many claim she had sold the photo herself to People’s Magazine.
