jayceeSacramento, California, Feb 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Phillip Garrido, who has been facing trail for the kidnapping and rape of Jaycee Lee Dugard, is supposedly suffering from mental illness, according to his attorney. The court documents that have been filed by Phillip Garrido’s defense attorney on Wednesday highlight that the accused kidnapper and the convicted rapist might not be in a condition to stand trail.

Defense lawyer Susan Gellman has emphasized that her client has been hearing the voices of angels and also implied that the El Dorado district attorney is not taking into account the degree of the mental illness that Phillip Garrido has been going through. At the same time, the public defender also went to state that District Attorney Vern Pierson’s accusation that her client was a ‘master manipulator’, was wrong and stressed that the statements that Phillip Garrido has been making are intended to intimate the victim but just highlight his mental illness.

Moreover, the defense attorney also added that her client prepared a detailed manifesto just days prior to his arrest in which he highlighted his ability to control sound with the help of his mind and also indicated his ability to talk to angels. The lawyer further claims that Phillip Garrido intended to drop the manifesto at FBI office to attract attention so that it could result in his arrest. Although the FBI denied entry to him, he supposedly left a copy with them. The public defender’s filings comes ahead of Friday’s hearing over whether Phillip Garrido should be in touch with his wife in jail to prepare their case and discuss family matters.
