El Dorado County, Oct 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jaycee Dugard was a carefree teenager in 1991, when she was unfortunately kidnapped and was made a sex-slave too for her abductors.
She was freed two months ago, in August after 18 years of captivity and after also giving birth to two children, fathered by her abductor.
Her abductor Phillip Garrido is a registered sex offender who police say raped her repeatedly over the years. He also fathered two daughters Angel and Starlit. The little girls have never been to school, neither to any doctor and seem to have very limited contact with the outside world.
According to reports, Jaycee and the girls lived in a cluster of filthy tents and windowless shacks hidden by trees and tarps in the backyard of Phillip Garrido’s home outside Antioch, California, where he lived with his wife, Nancy, 54, and his ailing mother. “I’m not aware of any other stranger-abduction case where a child has been recovered after 18 years,” says Ernie Allen, president of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. “It’s amazing and it’s horrendous, but the most important thing is that Jaycee is alive.”
Jaycee is now 29 years old and forcibly she is also mother to her two daughters and now after being rescued she is re-building her life one step at a time.
Lawyer Scott explains that he met Jaycee and her mother Terry last week and offered his services to them. “As everyone can imagine, there are a host of legal issues that the family confronts, especially the prosecution of Jaycee’s abductors,” Scott says. “In addition, the family faces an onslaught of media attention that the family understands but does not invite.”
Terry Probyn’s statement, released by the family’s new attorney, former federal prosecutor McGregor Scott, adds: “We especially appreciate everyone recognizing that what we need most right now is to be allowed to become a family again within a zone of privacy and security. We hope that our story focuses attention on all of the children still missing, and on their need to be found. We must keep looking for them. As Jaycee shows, miracles can happen.” ”Jaycee, her daughters, and I are grateful for everyone’s generosity, kindness, and good wishes these past few weeks. Thank you.”
