Apr 02 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Carmen Llywellyn, who is the ex wife of Jason Lee, is telling all about her ex husband and his religion, Scientology. She compared the religion to a cult, and said that she joined it just to appease him. Carmen became a member of the Church of Scientology in 1995, just after marrying Jason Lee, and quit the “church” when they were divorced in 2002. Carmen says: “Jason’s message was that if I didn’t join, I wasn’t going to be with him… so I joined, but it was like a cult, and I foolishly allowed it to take root in me.”

She has also made claims that Jason Lee was abusive and an alcoholic. She says: “He was a drunk who beat me up… he whacked me in the face and knocked me unconscious. Once, I was knocked out cold for at least 30 seconds. I had to have my jaw wired.” She said that when they were going through their divorce, that she went to the church only to be browbeaten into signing documents which she now regrets agreeing to. In the agreement, Jason was t pay her $21,141 a month for three years, and then a lump sum of $50,000 and a leased car. In exchange, Jason was given the 2 million dollar home, their cars, his business, residuals, stocks, and pension accounts. She eventually hired a lawyer which renegotiated her deal with Jason.

Carmen said that in the end, the church was very bad for her and her kids. “Scientology threatened my spiritual health, saying that I’d lose all my friends. I lost my manager and my career. People didn’t return my phone calls. Scientologists followed me down the street. They took pictures of my kids. They’d stake out my house, wait until we came out and follow us. They came looking for me to scare me, I was nearly suicidal.” She has since left Hollywood and moved to Atlanta Ga with her children.
