Jared Ashley-John Rich legal battle carry on
May 29th, 2009 - 9:42 pm ICT by GDJohn Rich has turned himself into the Metro Davidson County Criminal Justice center in Nashville, Tennessee. This was brought about by the charges of assault and harassment slapped on him by the aspiring singer Jared Ashley. Both don’t see eye to eye, and the rancor between them has deepened so much that they thought it best to fight it out in court, filing civil lawsuits against each other. While Ashley has sued Rich on grounds of assault, Rich countered with defamation charges in April. Rich was later let out on bail, after paying a bond of $3,000. He faces three charges. Two are for misdemeanor assault and the other is for misdemeanor harassment.
Jared Ashley, a former contestant in the season four of the “Nashville Star” reality show, claimed that the 35-year-old singer had hit him in the face. Rich rejected the charges as false and said that he will rather fight it out in the court than go for a settlement of $ 2.9 million to have them dropped.
John Rich is a country singer. He was the bass guitarist in the band “Lonestar” in between 1992-1998. In 1998, he was fired from the band. Then he embarked on a solo career, in the late 90s, releasing two singles. He also recorded the single “Underneath the same Moon” which finally got released in 2006. Around 2003, he ganged up with Big Kenny to form Big & Rich, releasing three albums with Warner Brothers Records and dishing out 10 singles. “Lost In This Moment” by the duo went on to become a number one hit. John Rich’s latest solo hit is “Shuttin’ Detroit Down.” In the coming days we will get to hear more of this Ashley-Rich story, as it looks like it will not die down easily.
