Japanese gov’t says blast rocks nuclear power plant, causes radiation leak
March 12th, 2011 - 4:36 pm ICT by BNO NewsTOKYO (BNO NEWS) — An explosion rocked the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant in northeastern Japan on Saturday, local media reported, but few details were immediately available.
NHK Television and the Kyodo news agency reported that an explosion had happened at the plant, which has been under a state of emergency after a massive 8.9-magnitude earthquake on Friday. NHK and Kyodo said a part of the plant had collapsed.
Few details about the radiation near the plant was immediately available.
