Jamaica’s death toll reaches ‘at least 44′

Kingston, May 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The death toll in the gun battle in Jamaica has reached ‘at least 44’. The gun battle is going on between police and gunmen in Kingston who are loyal to the alleged drug lord Christopher “Dudus” Coke.

The drug lord is being sought by the United States on various drug related charges. However Christopher Coke has thousands of loyal supporters who have vowed to even lay their lives down, in their endeavor to protect him. The gun battle has been on now for several days and the police say they have arrested about 200 fighters and seized several weapons also. The fighting is still on, as the police push deep into the stronghold of Christopher Coke.

The police are using helicopters and armored vehicles in their hunt for Christopher Coke. However Christopher Coke’s whereabouts are still unknown but the government has vowed

to arrest the drug lord in the operation. But the Jamaican Prime Minister has said that he is sorry about the loss of lives, but he has promised to bring law and order back to the city. The latest figures of the casualties in this gun-battle are not government figures, but rather they are a result of independent evaluation of the death toll.
