May 31, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Jamaican police personnel and its military have liquidated 73 individuals in the past 10 days in their search for the alleged drug lord, Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke. He is supposed to be the potent chief of the Kingston slums, whose extradition is desired by America on drug trafficking charges.
Jamaica Constabulary Force commissioner, Owen Ellington, uttered to a press conference that the most excellent and reliable intelligence that they possess is that Coke is still hiding in the island nation of Jamaica.
The inability of the Jamaican police force to track down Coke has led to the procreation of numerous conspiratorial conjectures, principal among which have been that of Coke having fled the island or having utilized his association with influential components of the Jamaican political set-up to find a safe haven.
The police personnel have also explicated their desire to seize Coke in a live state. Coke’s notorious father and precursor in the criminal world, Jim Brown, was exterminated in a mystifying fire in confinement 1991. His death raised accusations that he was bumped off to prevent the divulgement of crucial data pertaining to the Jamaican gangland and its relationship with the Jamaican political set-up.
Ellington has mentioned that the objective of the Jamaican police is to ensure the incarceration of Coke and to transport him before the Jamaican judiciary to undergo a trial, which will determine his extradition.
Coke, if extradited and found guilty by the American judiciary, is expected to encounter the punishment of life imprisonment. American prosecutors have accused Coke and his ‘Shower Posse’ of channeling a constant supply of lethal drugs such as marijuana and cocaine into New York and other Eastern American cities. This has generated underworld battles that have ensured the deaths of thousands of people.
