June 15, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Jack Kevorkian, made famous, by his candid confessions to assisted killing or euthanasia stated that he had absolutely no regrets on that score. This was revealed in an interview with the medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Kevorkian also stated that he regretted his own birth but had no qualms in assisting more than a hundred people to die.
The statement came as a shocking revelation but wasn’t totally unexpected especially from a man like Jack Kevorkian. He has spent a number of years serving time, behind the bars of a prison, on charges of helping a disabled man take his own life. Jack, could be convicted after he showed the death on television.
The correspondent was, in fact, quite surprised as Kevorkian announced that the worst moment for him had been his own birth. Later on, Dr. Gupta revealed that he did not know how to react at this astounding piece of news.
Jack, also said that he did not gain financially from the movie that uses his name and had Al Pacino acting in it. He also insisted that he did not make a single cent from it even after it was telecast on HBO.
Dr Gupta went on to challenge the man behind the bizarre cases of ‘patholysis’ or assisted suicide. He announced that the autopsies on at least 5 of the dead bodies showed absolutely no evidence of illness let alone a terminal one. Kevorkian simply ignored the point and chose not to reply immediately.
Later on, he admitted that several people including CEO’s of several companies had contacted him stating their wish to die. Jack Kevorkian said that he tested the people by putting them through a mental test.
He went on to emphasize that everyone had a right to end their lives and the doctors, state or the Federal system should not be allowed to interfere with such a personal decision.
He also stated that the doctors in the states where euthanasia is legal only help the terminally ill to die. “It is wrong”, he added.
