Jerusalem, Israel, June 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Saturday, the Israeli forces seized a vessel that was bound towards Gaza. The seizure was done by the Israeli naval force to prevent another bloody event the kind of which took place recently.
The Israeli force boarded the 1200-ton cargo ship named Rachel Corrie from the sea and did not put to use any helicopters to board on the ship. The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) that had sent the vessel has vehemently protested the seizure and termed it as “hijacking”.
The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) released a statement in which it mentioned that it is for the second time in less than a week’s time that the Israel Defence force has “stormed and hijacked” an aid ship that was not carrying any harm causing weapons in it.
The statement also alleged that the Israeli force had gone on to kidnap the passengers of the Rachel Corrie and force the ship towards Ashdod Port that lies at the southern part of Israel. The statement maintained that it is not yet known whether any passenger of the ship has been injured during the “attack”.
The organization believes that the passengers have been left unharmed by the force.
Reports claim that the prime minister of Israel has said that he will be enforcing a naval blockade on the Hamas-ruled Gaza strip. On the other hand the pressure on Israel to erase the restrictions altogether has also increased.
Benjamin Netanyahu the prime minister of Israel has said that he will “not allow the establishment of an Iranian port in Gaza”.
