KABUL (BNO NEWS) — An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service member was killed in Afghanistan on Monday, the NATO-led ISAF alliance said.

The soldier died of wounds sustained in an improvised explosive device (IED) strike in northern Afghanistan, the alliance said, without providing further details.

It is ISAF policy to not confirm the nationality of fallen service members, unless they are from the United States.

The service member is the 38th to die in Afghanistan this year, according to a BNO News count. Three American soldiers and one British soldier were killed as a result of IED strikes on Sunday.
