- Yale University art major Aliza Shvarts will show her art project on Tuesday which features her artificial inseminations and drug induced abortions. Her project features a nine-month process during which she artificially impregnated herself a number of times and then took drugs to induce miscarriages.
The yale University newspaper says that “Her exhibition will feature video recordings of these forced miscarriages as well as preserved collections of the blood from the process.”
It is so shocking and as if to add oil to the fire she has ignited, Aliza says “The goal in creating the art exhibition, Shvarts said, was to spark conversation and debate on the relationship between art and the human body.” What? Excuse me but Is this the only way left? Aren’t you killing babies Ma’am?
Evidently this is for the “shock value” and the controversy, which it has already sparked. We will see more protests from Tuesday as the “art” is displayed. Absolutely no idea if this will help ART but it will definitely give Aliza - the much intended - 15 minutes of fame.
