Niger, Sept 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) One of the sons of ousted Libyan leader has fled to neighboring Niger. 37-year-old Saadi Gaddafi reportedly sneaked into the country but his status has not been confirmed by the Nigerien authorities. Officials in Niger have confirmed that Saadi is indeed in the country.

The whereabouts of former leader Muammar Gaddafi is currently not known. It was recently reported that the 69-year-old was in an envoy of more than a dozen vehicles that crossed into Niger last week. It is believed that the vehicles contained some of the closest supporters of the former leader with some analysts suggesting that he was part of the entourage.

He released an audio message stating that he has not fled Libya.

Nigerien Justice Minister Amadou Morou told newsmen that “I wish to announce that one of Gaddafi’s sons - Saadi Gaddafi - was intercepted in the north of Niger by a patrol of the Nigerien military.”

Morou stated that Saadi was arrested with nine other high profile members of the former Libyan leader. Nigerien leaders are under pressure from the new Libyan leaders to hand over former members of the Gaddafi administration who have fled into the country.

The new Libyan regime has promised “fair trial” for all.
