Irishman Paraic Casey dies while attempting to swim across the English Channel

Paris, July 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Irishman Paraic Casey has died while attempting to swim across the English Channel. He was just 45 years old. According to reports he was near the finishing line when he became ill and he collapsed and eventually died. The exact cause of death is still awaited.

Casey’s wife – Riana said that, he was an “amazing, healthy, tough, loving husband, friend, brother, uncle, son, nephew and cousin”. She also revealed that sometime ago he had gotten interested in swimming and he had been to many places on account of swimming.

The Channel Swimming and Piloting Federation (CS&PF) officials said that before undergoing the strenuous swim across the English Channel, Casey had undergone all the medical tests and he was deemed fit to cross the Channel. They also added that he was also dressed appropriately in a wet suit for the swim.

The Channel Swimming and Piloting Federation released a statement which said that, “He also notified us that he had completed a six hour training swim. He was wearing a wet-suit for the channel crossing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Paraic’s family at this time.”
