hand Oct 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A man who confessed to robbing a candy store has been ordered by an Iranian Judge to have his hand amputated along with other punishments.

In a report from the local media on Saturday, it was revealed that the chief judge of the court in Tehran sentenced an unidentified twenty-one year old male to a year in jail, and he was ordered to pay restitution or return the stolen items. He will also have one hand amputated for his crimes.

The decision was passed down a day after another alleged thief had his hand amputated in the city Mashhad. Although the judiciary system of Iran is known to be harsh, they claim that the harsher punishments such as amputations are rare. Tehran had recently caused a worldwide public outcry against the harshness of this type of ruling, in the case of an Iranian woman who has been sentenced to a stoning execution.
