Des Moines, Aug 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Iowa flooding has created havoc in the lives of the inhabitants of the region. According to reports hundreds of people needed to be evacuated to safety and a teenage girl has died as well.
The situation was said to be very grim in Ames, because the flooding caused a crack in the main water line and as a result the mains needed to be closed. So around 5000 people are being kept bereft of drinkable water, due to the flooding.
And that is not all the Iowa State University was also closed on Thursday because most regions of the campus are deluged under water. Because of the incessant rains, the South Skunk River and the Squaw Creek overstepped their natural boundaries and their waters flooded the campus of the Iowa State University. There are also reports that the basketball court of the University is submerged under almost 5 feet of water.
The National Weather Service was also forced to issue warning of a flash flood watch from Thursday up to Friday evening for the region of northwest Iowa. It is being expected that there could be storms in the region and they could bring rain with them of up to 3 inches. However the other regions are expected to be spared of any more rain up to Saturday.
