Interpol warns of global terror threat if U.S. Koran burning continues, issues alert

LYON, FRANCE (BNO NEWS) — Interpol on Thursday issued a global alert in which it warned its 188 member countries that terrorist attacks are likely if the proposed Koran burning in Florida goes ahead as planned.

The alert was issued on the request of Pakistan’s Minister of Interior, Rehman Malik, but was also issued on Interpol’s own determination.

“Although there are currently no specific details as to what forms of terror attacks would follow, what is clear is if the Koran burning goes ahead as planned, there will be tragic consequences, ones which may well claim the lives of many innocent people,” said Interpol Secretary General Ronald Koble.

International condemnation of the proposed Koran burning has grown quickly this week, as the ninth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks nears.
