Jan 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Some interesting facts about the exact date of the authorship of the Bible has come to light, thanks to an Israel based researcher, Professor Gershon Galil. According to the professor, he has unearthed some very old inscriptions depicting some passages from the Bible, written in Hebrew. apparently, the new found discovery dates back to a time far earlier than the date that was stipulated to be that of the first written Bible. The inscription had been discovered toward the south of Jerusalem, in the Elah Valley.
In fact, the inscription had been discovered way back in 2008, but since at that point of time the language of the same could not be deciphered, it was not attributed to be one of the oldest forms of the Bible to have been discovered yet. However, certain words on the text has since been recognized as Hebrew. The text is actually in the form of a social statement, and speaks on the status of widows, orphans and slaves. The text also proves that Israel itself was extant at that time.
The discovery of the text dispels the myth that the Bible could not possibly have been written before the 6th century B.C., since it was believed that before that, illiteracy was rampant, and that the language itself did not date back further. However, the text shows that the Biblical texts were, at least in parts, written far before that time. As per the reports, the artifact dates back to the time in which King David was the ruler of Jerusalem, meaning at least the 10th century B.C.
