Injuries reported after explosion at coal mine in northern Turkey
May 17th, 2010 - 6:26 pm ICT by BNO NewsANKARA, TURKEY (BNO NEWS) - At least several people were injured after an explosion at a coal mine in northern Turkey on Monday, CNN Turk reported.
The blast occurred at the Karadon mine near the Black Sea port town of Zonguldak, but further details were not immediately available. It happened around 1.30 p.m. local time.
The incident follows a coal mine explosion in February, when 13 miners were killed in the northwestern province of Balikesir. In that incident, a methane gas explosion collapsed an underground chamber.
