Ingushetia: Attempt Of Terrorism Again

Yunus-Bek YevkurovThats the picture of President of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, who was badly hurt in a suicide bomb explosion as he was traveling in his armored Mercedes at 8.30 a.m on June 22nd. The explosion not only wrecked the car but also created a 6 feet crater in the ground, however, the President is still alive. It has been reported he was rushed to a hospital in Nazran where he underwent surgery, as doctors have said that he has suffered burns, head injuries and some internal organs have also been damaged. The President is not yet out of danger.

Ingushetia is Russia’s smallest regine, but has a population of around half a million and is also ranked as poorest in the country. It is also known for the prevailing violence and corruption which has resulted in the terrorist attack. It was condemned by President Dmitry Medvedev. Reports say that he has also assured that authorities would be tough on the assaulter’s.

A hospital doctor after taking up the President’s case commented “It is hard to see how anyone could have survived such a strong blast”.

Securities have been tightened but reports say that this is the third official who has been killed or wounded in such attacks in Ingushetia.

As quoted from what Vladimir Markin said ,”The crime was carried out by members of illegal armed groups to de-stabilize the situation in the republic.” A spokesman for the Prosecutor-General’s said, who is also a part of the main investigative unit, adds to the fact that it was targeted terrorism.
