Illinois woman sentenced for meth overdose death

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, ILLINOIS (BNO NEWS) – A Bethalto, Illinois woman was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death, prosecutors announced on Friday.

Amanda Overstreet, 26, pleaded guilty on October 28, 2009 to selling, methadone to Jared R. Hawkins. On December 1, 2004, Hawkins body was discovered at his Alton, Illinois, residence.

Overstreet was also sentenced to 3 years of supervised release and ordered to pay $5,421 in restitution.
