Hurricane Igor to hit northwestern US by Wednesday

Leeward Islands, Sep 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The National Hurricane Center is currently monitoring four potential hurricanes as the hurricane season continues. But none of these potential destructors is expected to pose any threat to Florida.

One of the storms has already developed into a hurricane called, Hurricane Igor. Igor grew into a hurricane on Saturday, and it is expected to hit the American northwest region by Wednesday.

As at 8:00 am ET on Sunday, the hurricane was on the Atlantic, about 1,175 miles east of the Leeward Islands with a speed of 18mph. The hurricane is accompanied by sustained speed of 80 mph and Igor is expected grow into a Category 4 hurricane with an accompanying sustained winds of 135 mph within the next three days. But the storm is expected to slow down over the following few days.

“Igor is expected to gather strength and become a dangerous Category 3 on Monday, and may reach Category 4 strength on Tuesday or Wednesday,” according to CNN meteorologist Dave Hennen.

Potentially on its path is Mexico’s Yucatan region. The Igor can also bring heavy rain to Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Hispaniola.

Another potential storm, Julia is forming in the far Eastern Atlantic. There was no hurricane warning in place as on Sunday morning.
