Tripoli, Mar 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The British government estimate that hundreds of its citizens are still stuck in Libya. For almost half of the Brits still in Libya, it is a matter of choice.

About 220 Brits are known by the government to be in Libya. 100 of them maintain that they want to stay in the country with 70 saying they have not yet decided when they would leave but indicated that they would leave the country “at some point.” The fate of the remaining 50 Brits were not revealed by the government.

Last month, the British government chartered planes to rescue most of its citizens from Libya. The evacuation cost the government £1.8 million in chartered flights within a period of six days.

The British Foreign Office gave the assurance that all the remaining Brits who have indicated that they would want to leave Libya would be assisted to do so.

The Foreign Office Minister, Alistair Burt, told the UK Parliament that, “We continue to work with those who have contacted us for help in order to identify options for them to leave Libya.”

Britain is part of the international coalition of forces currently enforcing the UN imposed no-fly zone over Libya.
