Humbolt Squid Invasion: Beast Feast

In a rather ‘octopussey’ affair of late that has alarmed marine biologists and scuba divers alike, there has been what appears to be an invasion of giant Humbolt squid in the shallow waters off the coast of San Diego.
The geographical area in which the convergence has been reported, specifically the waters off Orange County, north of San Diego, is an intriguing anomaly, so far as marine biologists are concerned, as these jumbo molluscs are naturally native to the deep waters off the coast of Mexico, and for them to be swarming elsewhere suggests a shift in habitat. According to Nigella Hillgarth, the executive director of the Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institution, the unnatural behavior is suggestive of establishment of a new populating environment off California at depths of about 300-650 feet.
Aggressive and naturally vicious, these monstrous creatures are armed with razor-sharp parrot-like beaks, that according to marine biologists, could very well gouge out a chunk of human flesh if put to malicious use, and toothy tentacles that complete the scary image of potentially hazardous sea monsters, who could very well translate into a diver’s worst nightmare.
Believed to have migrated in search of sustenance these jumbo, gelatinous freaks of nature may have spooked the diving community and caused environmental concerns for marine biologists and conservationists, but Orange County fisherman seem to be delighted by the wayward antics of the adventure seeking animals. Quick to cash in on the potentially lucrative business proposition that seems to have quite literally blown out of water, the fishermen have been making the most of the marine phenomenon.
