TAMPA, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) – Human remains of an 18-year-old woman who went missing in 2004 were found on a highway, local authorities said Tuesday.

Lisa Ann Mowrey was last seen early morning on February 6, 2004, when she left her home to get to school at the Manhattan Hairstyling Academy. Mowrey never arrived to school and never returned home, and her parents reported her missing to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

On March 16, human skeletal remains were discovered at mile marker 271 on I-75. Local law enforcement agents met Monday and made a tentative identity, which was confirmed to be Mowrey on Tuesday morning through dental records.

The remains on this unexpected death are currently being reconstructed and tested by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner and the University of South Florida Anthropologist, as law enforcement agents continue investigating the case.
