Jan.02, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Following the foiled terrorist attack on Christmas day on Northwest Airlines Flight which was headed to Detroit, security measures at all the important terminals of major cities across the world is being beefed up to avoid any untoward incident in future. At this juncture, where almost all the major countries face the threat of a possible terror attack, one of the basic steps to counter terrorism, is to identify the potential terrorists.
One of the basic facts that has emerged from the recent failed terrorist attack in Detroit is that the potential terrorists are not always impoverished residents of the Third World countries but might be well educated individuals who have spent most of their lives in United States or European countries. Another popular conception is that all potential terrorists have some kind of intrinsic association with Al Qaeda hide outs in Afghanistan or Western Pakistan. However, this might not be the case each time, as every terrorist does not necessarily needs to be a hardcore Al Qaeda member, to plot and carry out the vicious attacks.
Experts have revealed that identifying the body language of probable suspect can go a long way in nabbing the terrorists. At the same time, counter terrorism authorities should be undertaking steps to more seriously analyze the behavioral patterns of probable militants so that the terror plots can be understood and accordingly be successfully foiled. Moreover, with aviation being on the radar of the terrorist outfits, airport officials need to be increasingly alert so that their response to any suspicious individuals can be quick.
