Colombo, Oct 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) It is always advisable to at least understand what is being said when you are being blessed. So that you might at least not encounter what a couple encountered in the Maldives.

A couple who visited the Maldives thought they were being blessed at an idyllic beach ceremony when in fact heap of insults and curses was rather being poured on their heads.

As a result of that action, the Vilu Reef hotel at the Maldives has apologized for the incident and called the action of their staff member “unforgivable conduct”

More embarrassingly was the fact that the video of the ceremony was placed on YouTube. Among the heap of insults rained on the couple were “swine” and “infidels”.

The Swiss couple was completely mocked in the video with the supposed “minister” asking them to do various tasks like stand up, sit down, kneel and others. The man who went through the whole ceremony shyly might not be that shy again, if he manages to see the hotel staff again.

The Maldives is a hotel paradise for several people and the incident has taken a national dimension. The country’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Shaheed was deeply disturbed by the video and promised a full-scale investigation into the incident.

The event did cost the couple $1,500 and lasted for 15 minutes. The “minister” officiated in the Dhivehi language.
