DENVER, COLORADO (BNO NEWS) – A man was arrested in Denver for bank robbery, a spokesman of the U.S. Department of Justice said Thursday.

Timothy McGlothin, age 41, is believed to be one of the “Hoppin Hooded Bandits,” which are being investigated for a pattern of bank robberies. McGlothin was detained during a lawful search of residence after entry.

Joshua Licona, a co-conspirator of McGlothin, had already been arrested and is now in federal custody. Both men were indicted on the charge of armed bank robbery by a federal grand jury in Denver on January 6, 2010.

McGlothin and Licona allegedly used a handgun to rob the Bank of Denver, which implies armed bank robbery and a crime of violence with a firearm.

Both men, if convicted of the first count, armed bank robberies, would be facing a maximum of 25 years in federal prison and up to a $250,000 fine; if convicted of the second count, using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, in addition, McGlothin and Licona would be facing at least 7 years and a maximum of life imprisonment. They also both face a fine of up to $250,000 for the second count.

The Denver Division of the FBI, the Denver Police Department, and the Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force, had announced the apprehension of Timothy McGlothin Wednesday.
