Honduran alien indicted for illegal re-entry and possession of a firearm
May 12th, 2010 - 11:47 pm ICT by BNO NewsINDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (BNO NEWS) – An Honduran man was indicted for illegal re-entry to the United States and for illegal possession of a firearm, prosecutors announced on Wednesday.
Manuel De Jesus Martinez Aguilar, 39, a Honduras national, was deported from the United States on June 14, 2000. He was residing in Houston, Texas, at the moment he was found by an investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
On April 29, approximately ten years after being deported, Aguilar was found in Posey County, Indiana. He was purchasing firearms when law enforcement agents spotted him. Aguilar had not received permission to re-enter the United States from the Attorney General or Secretary of Homeland Security after his deportation, as required by law.
At the moment of his arrest, Aguilar was allegedly in possession firearms as a person illegally in the U.S.
If convicted, Aguilar faces a maximum penalty of two years of imprisonment and a maximum fine of $250,000.
