HIV positive porn star Derrick Burts speaks out
December 8th, 2010 - 11:51 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLos Angeles, Dec 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Adult movie star Derrick Burts was the person who was diagnosed with HIV in October by the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation in Sherman Oaks.
The health facility failed to identify the person but it seems Derrick wanted the world to know his status. He was previously only referred to as “Patient Zeta”.
At 24 years, he was previously a hotel manager. He however moved on to become a magician on a cruise ship. It is however believed that he contracted the STD during his time as an adult movie star. As result of his predicament, Derrick is calling for the mandatory use of condom in the adult movie industry.
On screen, Derrick who was bisexual was known as Cameron Reid when he was performing on straight movies. However his name changed to Derek Chambers when he performed on gay movies.
The Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation claims that they have identified who infected Derrick with the condition but will not name the person because of patient confidentiality. Derrick though believes that he might have contracted the disease during a gay performance that he had in Florida. That assertion though is not shared by the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation.
The clinic claims that Derrick acquired the disease during “private, personal activity”.
