Florence, May 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Historians are trying to solve the age long mysteries surrounding Mona Lisa. The portrait of Mona Lisa is arguably the best known work of legendary artist Leonardo da Vinci. A group of researchers are trying to identify the remains of Mona Lisa so that some part of arts history will be solved.

Mona Lisa is believed to have been buried in Florence so the researchers have narrowed their search to the city. They are using special radar devices to locate the remains of Lisa. The historians say if they are able to locate the remains of Mona Lisa, they will be able to reconstruct her face using her skull.

There has been confusion in the art world concerning the real identity of the lady that da Vinci drew. The most popular notion has been that the Mona Lisa portrait belonged to the wife of a rich Florentine silk merchant known as Lisa Gherardini. Others insist that there is no proof that Francesco del Giocondo’s wife is the woman in the image.

The portrait of Mona Lisa is currently on display at the Louvre museum in Paris. It is estimated that the painting was done between 1503 and 1506.
