On August 6, 1945, a Monday the history of mankind got divided in to two episodes in the world modern history that was distinctively marked in to two; before and after the bombings of the Japanese towns of Hiroshima ans Nagasaki.
The catastrophe called “Little Boy” landed on the soil of the town of Hiroshima and turned everything to dust. Almost half a century later people can’t seem to get the thought still out of their mind. On the eve of the day when the US nuclear bomb “Little Boy” grazed the civilization to a mere nothing, the mayor of Hiroshima Tadatoshi Akiba solemnly put up the cry of putting a stop to the use of the deadly nuke energy in wars as a combat weapon.
On Thursday, the day that the citizens of Hiroshima and the entire world observed in remembrance that fateful day, the mayor pleaded global leaders to give their nod for abolishing the prevalence of the nuclear weapons. His ardent appeal suggests to back US president Barack Obama on this font, who has proposed to abolish the deadly nuke weapons.
In the commemorating ceremony for all those thousands who lost their lives in the incident and the others who have been effected till date, the mayor welcomed the commitment that had been made by the US President.
“Together, we can abolish nuclear weapons. Yes, we can,” said Akiba. He also said, “We refer to ourselves, the great global majority, as the ‘Obamajority,’ and we call on the rest of the world to join forces with us to eliminate all nuclear weapons by 2020.”
