Sacramento, Dec 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) California saw record-shattering rains on Monday. The rain was widely blamed for some evacuations, road closures and small floods around the state on Monday.

The rain affected almost the entire California and motorists were greatly inconvenienced. The rains are as nothing that has happened before. Since record keeping began, this will go down as the heaviest in history with some cities seeing as much as 12 inches of rain.

Weather forecasters however warn that that is not the worse. They say that more rains should be expected on Tuesday and Wednesday. Forecasters estimate that anywhere between five to ten inches of more rainfall should be expected during the period.

The rains started pouring on California on Thursday. By Friday, most cities in the state experienced the rain. It however peaked on Monday and surprised many inhabitants who have not seen enough rain in the state for the past two years.

There have been no reported deaths but several homes have been destroyed by the rain sparking a handful of evacuation from some locations.

California’s struggle with rain comes amid Europe’s own problem with record rainfall this holiday season.
