Harley Davidson “Hog” king Bruce Rossmeyer dead

Bruce RossmeyerBruce Rossmeyer, the undisputed king of the Harley Davidson motorcycle dealership kingdom has died, aged 66, after colliding with a camper on his Harley.

Rossmeyer headed the largest chain of Harley dealerships in the world, with each prominently featuring his name, but primarily revolving around the Florida biker capital of Daytona Beach.

Rossmeyer bought his first Harley dealership in 1994 and went on to own 15 of them from Fort Lauderdale to Boston, including a 150-acre (about 60ha) touristy attraction, Destination Daytona, housing the largest Harley Davidson dealership in the world with more than 500 new motorcycles to choose from.

According to a family spokeswoman, Rosemeyer collided with a truck pulling a camper that a group of motorcycles was passing on their way to the Sturgis biker rally in South Dakota.

Rosemeyer was active in raising money for the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County and the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy, five children and nine grandchildren.
