Oct 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Tropical Storm Nicole, has created a huge havoc in the entire county since Thursday. Yesterday, most of the schools were closed by 3:30 pm considering the deteriorating conditions of the highways and the roads due to rapid felling of trees all through out the afternoon and the evening. It also caused heavy power outages and flooding of roads.
As expected by the weather forecast department, the harsh weather continued till today, not bringing much of an improvement in the conditions. The tropical storm Nicole is still expected to follow north along the I-95 corridor. The prediction that yet another 3 inches of downpour will sweep Harford, before the dawn, and another one fourth inches before 10:00 am, is likely to come true. Due to the heavy downpour, it was announced on Thursday, that all schools will reopen two hours after the normal time on Friday. If the situation gets worse, then it may not open at all for that day. All schools will avoid the morning pre-PK, because of the risk in moving out of the homes early this morning. This announcement was done, after the police declared the blockade of a few important roads in the County on Thursday, after 6:30 PM, due to various disastrous reasons resulting from Nicole. It has been announced, that people living in the lowlands should immediately figure out ways of relocation in any other part of the state as Nicole is something to be taken more seriously that the other tropical storms that typically affect the state.
Tropical Storm Nicole, which was formed two days ago, took a very severe shape and caused tremendous swelling and heavy rainfall over every place it passed. Tropical Storm Nicole is the sixteenth tropical cyclone, that was formed over the Atlantic. It is the fourteenth named storm of the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season, affecting north-central Caribbean, and all those US states that faces the Atlantic.
