Aug 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Melissa Moore, daughter of the serial killer Keith Jesperson who was better known as the ‘Happy Face Killer’ recalled her growing up years with her father on ABC’s “20/20″ in an episode that was aired last night. The eldest child of the ‘Happy Face Killer’ remembered the fond memories of her childhood that was spent in rural Toppenish, Washington and revealed details of her experiences as a child with her father who was to become a much-feared serial killer in the years to come.
During her interview on the ABC program, Melissa Moore said that she had an absolutely normal childhood and had many fun moments with her father over the years. Keith Jesperson’s daughter further went on to say that not once during her growing up years did she realize that her loving father could transform into a serial killer capable of mercilessly taking away innocent lives. However, Melissa Moore divulged that although her father was highly devoted to his children, there were some darker secrets to his character that he mostly kept under the warps from his family.
The serial killer’s daughter recalled a particular incident which she felt gave her a glimpse of the darker shades of her father. Melissa Moore vividly remembered the details of the day when as a young girl she found Keith Jesperson torturing animals by grabbing small kittens then hanging them up the clothesline. The ‘Happy Face Killer’ who is currently serving multiple sentences for taking the lives of as many as eight people in the early 1990’s, was called so for the smileys that he drew in his confessional letters.
