Hanukkah Celebration Begins From Friday

Dec.12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) With the approach of winter, people of the United States have come to a festive mood and on Friday, followers of Jewish faith celebrated the first day of the festival Hanukkah. The festival of light, Hanukkah, which kick-started yesterday will continue for eight days and Jews in different parts of the world has come to a festive mood.
Jews all over the world from Friday have started to make several preparations to celebrate the Hanukkah festival. The media contacted some people of the Jewish community to catch the tit-bits of the festival in their own words. Rabbi David Wucher when contacted by the media, said that this is an important festival and celebrates their religious freedom. He added that with this festival they commemorate the religious victory they had attained in the ancient days. In his interview, the Rabbi also said that they light one candle on the first night and increases the number of candles as they approach to the eighth day of the festival.
Chabad Center’s Rabbi on Friday was busy to prepare the meal for three hundred students of Jewish community. Apart from preparing traditional food, Jewish people exchange gifts, lights menorah and engages in several other works for celebrating this day and commemorating the victory in the war between the Maccabees and Greeks. Not only the Jewish community but also the White House commemorates the day and sources stated that President Barack Obama has issued a Hannukah message in Hebrew. The President has sent his ‘warmest wishes’ to everyone who is celebrating the Hannukah festival. White House also has reportedly not downsized the celebration of Hanukkah.
