Port-au-Prince, Feb 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There is a big hue and cry about a person who has been rescued from the rubble of the Haiti earthquake. It is being rumored that he was dug out from the rubble, after being buried for 27 days. The 28-year-old man was trapped in the rubble of the building, that collapsed when a strong earthquake struck Haiti on the 12th of January.
The rescued man was said to be very weak, emaciated and he also seemed mentally unstable after his ordeal. Doctors are treating him, and they said that fortunately he was just trapped and not crushed under the rubble. He was obviously very dehydrated, and was in the need of immediate medical attention.
However there are skeptics who do not believe that anyone can survive without food and water for 27 days. They say that his story is downright false. “Someone could not survive 28 days without water,” Nery Ynclan, a University of Miami media officer in Haiti said. “You can go nine weeks without food.” Prior to this, a teenage girl was rescued from the rubble of the earthquake, after she was trapped in the debris for 15 days.
