Gunman spotted on Texas A&M campus
October 29th, 2010 - 4:50 am ICT by BNO NewsCOLLEGE STATION, TEXAS (BNO NEWS) — Texas A&M University officials on Thursday afternoon issued a “Code Maroon” after reports of a gunman at the College Station campus.
According to preliminary information, a bus driver on the campus reporter seeing a man with an AK-47 style weapon near Rudder Tower.
A text message sent by A&M officials at 4 p.m. CDT said “sighting of armed subject at Rudder Tower. Seek safe shelter until further notice.” Later, a new message was sent saying that no armed subject was found as of 4:33 p.m. CDT. “Police are still searching. Continue to shelter in place.”
The man carrying the weapon was described as a white man wearing green shorts, a dark colored t-shirt and a backpack. Texas A&M University is now on lock-down.
