Gulf Oil Spill Economic Recovery Task Force to meet in Tallahassee, FL

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) — The Gulf Oil Spill Economic Recovery Task Force on Monday announced that it will hold a meeting on Wednesday in Tallahasse, Florida at the Betty Easley Conference Center.

The Task Force was created by Executive Order 10-101 and will facilitate efforts by Florida businesses and industries in recovering from lost business and revenues due to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

“The immediate mission of the task force is to protect the economic security of the businesses and families in the coastal counties impacted by this unfortunate incident. They are our highest priority,” said Florida Governor Charlie Crist. “Task force members bring together the experience and expertise that will help us put in place measures that essential to the economic recovery of the Sunshine State.”

The Gulf Oil Spill Economic Recovery Task Force, which is representing a variety of organizations dedicated to Florida’s recovery, will work with BP and state agencies to assess the economic impact of the oil spill and secure financial assistance as needed.

The members have committed to ensure the livelihood of Florida’s tourism and seafood industries, as well as other affected coastal businesses, as they will also be making recommendations to the Governor for immediate and effective actions that will combat further economic impact to Florida’s coastal businesses.
