BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT (BNO NEWS) – A Griswold, Connecticut man was sentenced on Thursday to three years of probation for his role in a bank fraud scheme, prosecutors announced.

Kyle Seibert, 21, was ordered to serve the first 6 months of probation in home confinement due to his charge of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

Seibert and Justin Edwards of Coventry, Connecticut, stole balance transfer checks from mailboxes in order to make them payable to themselves. Then, they deposited the stolen money into various accounts they had opened with the help of Timothy Taylor of Mansfield.

The three men successfully defrauded banks of $89,082 from the $188,000 in fraudulent checks that deposited.

The two co-conspirators were previously sentenced. Edwards was ordered to 33 months of imprisonment. Taylor was sentenced to three years of probation in January.
