July 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The story Of Anne Frank has been published as a Graphic Novel by the Anne Frank House Museum in an effort to reach a wider audience. The graphic novel is based on the diary written by the teenager who, along with her family, hid from the Nazis for 2 years in an apartment in Amsterdam. According to a spokesperson of the Museum, the graphic novel is directed towards the teenagers who might not read the original book ‘The Diary Of Anne Frank’.
The diary is considered to be one of the most highly read novels to emerge from the Holocaust. The graphic novel will portray her story when she was in hiding and her subsequent death in the Nazi concentration camp. It is a product of the collaboration between American author Sid Jacobson and artist Ernest Colon. The two have earlier collaborated to produce the best selling graphic novel called the ‘9/11 Commission Report’. The novel will be released in the US later this month and it will be published by Hill and Wang. For the readers in the UK, MacMillan will publish the graphic novel and release it during autumn. Translations in French, German and Italian have also been planned.
The story of Anne Frank has been read and appreciated throughout the world. She started writing the diary on her 13th birthday and wrote it for the two years that she and her family remained in hiding. Her father published it after the end of World War II. Anne Frank was however killed in the Nazi concentration camps in 1945. The spokesperson of the museum that is releasing the novel has said that the novel will be included in the classroom teaching materials for the World War II.
