Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri Died In Sleep

Dec.20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, who had been kept under house arrest for several years, has died at the age of 87 years, in his home. The news of his death was confirmed by Nasser Montazeri, the grandson of Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri.
The latest update related to his death indicated that he had died while sleeping. No other details related to the death of this great spiritual leader of Iran has been provided to the media. Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, who was one of the most outspoken leaders of the country and criticized the government on several issues. He was respected by a large number of people in the country. He had protested against the present government of the country as he considered that they wanted to establish dictatorship in the country, in the name of Islam. According to the reports, he never preferred to use religion in politics as he considered it would affect the integrity of religion.
Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, who had played a significant role in the Iranian Revolution of 1979, had condemned the government for tearing off the Ayatollah Khomeini’s pictures. He never overlooked the mistakes committed by Ayatollah Khomeini but considered him to be a great leader. He considered that Ayatollah Khomeini, who had ignited the Iranian Revolution, had done his duty for the country. The sudden death of the spiritual leader has been a jolt for the followers of the reformist camp and they are really upset about his death. They do not consider that anyone would be able to recover the damage done by Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri’s death.
