Governor Perry releases the Texas Homeland Security Strategic Plan 2010-2015

AUSTIN, TEXAS (BNO NEWS) – Governor Rick Perry released on Tuesday the Texas Homeland Security Strategic Plan 2010-2015 which will prepare the state for any kind of threats, the Governor’s Press Office informed.

The strategic plan will guide Texas’ preparation, preparedness, response and recovery efforts to all types of threats over the next five years. It will also serve as a high-level roadmap to allow adaption to evolving situations in an ever-changing threat environment.

The Texas Homeland Security Strategic Plan will focus on investigations and prosecutions of high threat gangs; increased information sharing between government, agencies, law enforcement and public; and enhanced public-private partnerships.

“This plan was developed with the input of state agencies, law enforcement and emergency management personnel that form the homeland security community in Texas, ensuring the most accurate assessment of the risks in our state and the best recommendations on how to address them,” Perry declared.

Texas has committed over $230 million in the last five years to fund border security operations, establish a stet health and medical operations center, and improved radio interoperability. Texas was also praised for its response to the 2009 H1N1 swine flu outbreak.

Over the same period, Texas responded to 7 hurricanes, 2 tropical storms, 18 tornadoes, drought, wildfires that burned more than 2 million acres and 1 terrorist attack at Fort Hood.
